Bio
Ondřej Zámečník is an accordionist, composer, arranger, and teacher. One of his first original projects was the Ondřej Zámečník Quintet (A. Sikora, V. Beneš, V. Micenko, and M. Kotača), which he founded while still studying. In 2024, he completed the original project Dialogues, a concept based on duets with various instruments and musicians (P. Čadek, A. Sikora, M. Cálik, V. Beneš, V. Micenko, J. Kavka). The project was also published in printed form. In 2025, he published another work titled 20 Etudes for Accordion. Since 2026, he has been performing with trumpeter Michal Cálik and double bassist Kazuki Shingu in the Ondřej Zámečník Trio, focusing on improvisation, original compositions, and the fusion of various musical styles. In 2026, he published a collection of compositions for recorder ensembles titled Recorder Tales.
Currently, he performs at concerts and festivals focused on classical music, jazz, and folk music, not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad (Warsaw, Kraków, Opole, Brussels, Dubai, Trieste, Vienna, Linz, Zurich, Ingolstadt, Thessaloniki, Norrköping, Mexico City, and Leipzig).

Ondřej Zámečník studied accordion performance at the P. Křížkovský High School, where he focused on Argentine tango (under P. Zámečník). He later pursued classical music at the Pardubice Conservatory (under A. Dvořák) and completed his master’s degree in jazz interpretation at JAMU in Brno (under V. Křišťan, J. Slavík, and J. Levíček). Part of his studies took place in Trieste, Italy, where he studied jazz composition at the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Tartini (under K. Gesing).
Throughout his career, he has performed with various renowned ensembles, including the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc (B. Martinů), the Hradec Králové Philharmonic (A. Piazzolla), and the Brno Philharmonic (T. Larcher, L. Berio).
He has collaborated for many years with singer-songwriter Pavel Čadek, with whom he recorded four albums (Cellofolk, 20-30, Stepní vlk, and Cellem Vpřed!). The album Stepní vlk was nominated for the Anděl Award 2023. In the field of world music, he regularly performs with the klezmer project Nišma, which released its debut album Noch a Glezl Vayn in 2026 (Š. Jakubíček, M. Kříž).
As a musician or arranger, he has contributed to albums by various artists, including Klára Veselá (W.O.M.E.N), the band Plachý host (Poslední pokušení), and singer-songwriter Ivo Cicvárek (Padá). Additionally, he has collaborated as a musician or composer with projects such as Czech Virtuosi, Shadow Quartet, Mozartovy děti, Hazafele, Joel Bros, Já, secese / iMucha, Hausopera, Mikroteatro and others.
In the theater world, he has worked with the National Theatre Brno (Reduta, Janáček theatre), Brno City Theatre, East Bohemian Theatre Pardubice, Hybernia Theatre in Prague, and the ensemble Bazmek Entertainment.
Since 2012, he has been engaged in teaching at the ZUŠ Kuřim music school, where he regularly participates with his students in competitions, large concerts, and festivals. He also collaborates with the private music school Kohútek, where he focuses, among other things, on jazz interpretation. In recent years, he has also led workshops focused not only on improvisation, including: Accordion Academy Brno (2024), Harmonikářský kurz (2024), Musicollage – Hudební současnost Festival (2024, 2025), Accordion Melting Pot – Maraton hudby Festival (2024, as coordinator), Kuřim Summer Art Courses (2024), and Akordeonové léto Litomyšl (2025, 2026). From 2026, he will also teach at the P. J. Vejvanovský Conservatory in Kroměříž.
